Why it's

Important

AimState has developed from a number of understandings around psychology, goal setting and social justice that drive home the huge benefits the platform can bring.
Harnessing the power of psychology

So many of us have great aspirations for the world but, with only 24 hours in the day, we often have trouble reflecting those aspirations in our everyday actions.  But, maybe, the things we end up doing instead aren't really as necessary as we thought they were at the time.

Sometimes they are just habits we have trouble shaking; Sometimes we cite tradition, or convenience, and we often justify short-term pursuits by crediting the momentary gratification those activities bring.

The majority of the changes we would like to see in the world only require a simple redistribution of time and resources away from these kind of everyday actions, into smart, future focused actions.  And so much of this involves harnessing the science of enjoyment - by using techniques to evoke optimal enjoyment while completing meaningful actions.

The potential of documenting long term, communal goals

The power and value of having communal goals, and working with others on big meaningful projects, can provide the greatest source of personal well-being and self-fulfilment. And the benefits to society of big communal goals are obvious: humans have advanced civilisation to where it is due to their ability to think ahead and work together.  With the right tools, we can go much further.

Normalising discussion and communication around big goals dramatically improves their potential to be realised.  Being continually exposed to these plans and keeping them at the forefront of our minds reinforces their importance, and this discussion also gives us more opportunities to discover how we can work together with the aspirations of others.

Also, building detail into our blueprints for the future has many benefits, one of the biggest being that the more thorough our plan, the easier it is to define whether something in our day is a superficial activity or a meaningful step.

Current market thinking champions the idea that companies are justified in artificially creating desire for a product (or exploiting natural human impulses) in order to sell that product .  As long as you stay within the law, if you are managing to convince people to buy your product, by any means, you are a successful, legitimate part of the marketplace.

A wide-spread practice of future blueprinting could create a culture where companies are expected to be mindful of individual’s long-term goals when considering who to promote their products to.  A culture where the reputations of companies depend on how much the promotion and sale of their product or service actually helps their customers achieve their goals.

New motivation techniques creating better outcomes in social equity and social justice

Our current society relies very heavily on the motivational power of money to create incentive for a person to be productive, and it often labels people as lazy and unworthy if they aren’t magically driven by it to excel.

However, the amount a person contributes in society also relies hugely on their past experiences, education, and what they have been passed on from the generation before.  Therefore, a system that highlights the power and importance of other motivational forces can help to remove the negative stigma someone can carry for struggling financially.

But more than that, the development and introduction of new smart motivational tools into our communities, including those focused on long-term communal goal-setting, has the power to engage and inspire everybody to contribute and be successful much more than they do currently with our traditional systems of incentive.
